Accommodation

Amandari has the look of a Balinese village, with riverstone walkways lined with stone statues and shrines, gardens and high paras-stone walls. Balinese-style gateways front each suite. Accommodation is divided into terrace and duplex suites. Eleven suites come with private swimming pools, including the Amadari Suite, available with one or two independent bedrooms. All suites enjoy a large sunken marble bath in an outdoor garden setting. Each spacious suite features marble flooring, wall-sized sliding glass doors, exposed timber and in the terrace suites, a king size bed. The bedroom of each duplex suite is dressed with a four-poster bed. A canopy, its cotton underside adorned with an intricate, Kamasan-style painting, is stretched over the beds binkerai-wood columns.

Amandari's swimming pool is fashioned of emerald-green tiles. The curving sweep of lightly salted water mimics the rice terraces that tumble below. Each evening gamelan players perform from the music pavilion behind the pool. The open-air Bar, close by the pool offers a selection of alcoholic and fresh-fruit drinks.

Restaurants

Crafted largely of teak wood, The Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, specializing in Indonesian and western dishes. The casual, two-story restaurant overlooks the swimming pool and the green valley beyond.

Facilities

Amandari's guest facilities include the Library, with an outdoor patio made for late afternoon tea and a good book. The floodlit tennis court includes a bale and table for between-game refreshments. The resort's health and fitness center was built with wide window views to a lotus pond. The exercise room includes a variety of equipment and free weights. The Balinese-style complex also features change rooms and showers, along with a sauna and steam bath.

• Swimming: Besides the 15 metre long swimming pool, Amandari has private swimming pools in eleven of the suites.
• Rafting: An exhilarating sport, rafting down the Ayung river to Amandari itself is an exiting way to see sights of wild life, waterfalls, rapids and rice paddy plains.
• Trekking: Special Amandari guides are expert in all kinds of trekking. An easy two-hour trek through a series of villages in the mountains, or a more arduous trek up Mount Agung. There are also a series of other treks for all ages.
• Tennis: A tennis court is available for day and evening play.
• Biking: Amandari has mountain bikes, and tours can be arranged through the countryside. Easy rides in Ubud and the art colony, more lengthy flat tours through the countryside, and power Biking are all arranged.
• Golf: Bali Handara: which is only 1¼ hours away by car is considered one of the most beautiful settings in the world of the golf course. Set in the extinct volcanic crater, the climate is extremely cool and this activity is wonderful experience for a keen golfer. Reservation and transport can be arranged through the hotel.
• Touring: Chauffeur and self drive cars go throughout central Bali, as well as more extended trips to east Bali's Amankila, Amanusa near Denpasar, or to the more remote areas of northern Bali.
• Library: A full selection of books, music cassettes, CDs and games are in the library.
• Beauty and Health Service: The Amandari health facility includes: Gymnasium, sauna, steam bath, beauty treatment room and massage rooms. Both traditional and Balinese massages are available.
• Dances: Nightly Balinese dancers are performed in Ubud and nearby villages, with Amandari arranging transportation to and from the sites. Traditional private dances are held at special locations with dining upon request.
