Calendar of Event 2005

The uniqueness of Bali island can be seen from its cultural aspect such as the great number of Hindu religious ceremonies. There are incidental ceremonies like ; funeral, cremation, marriage, and other those could not be scheduled regularly, while on the other hand Temple ceremony or local people call "Odalan" is a temple's anniversary celebration, held regularly according to the traditional Hindu Calendar System, as following list.

During the temple's ceremony the the whole villagers around it are totally involved since its preparation few days or weeks before. Temple ceremony commonly lasts for three days, and greater one lasts for 11 days are even 42 days, the good time to visit a temple during ceremony is in afternoon time till evening where could be seen young women with beautiful temple offerings on their heads in long parade lead to temple, mass praying, traditional dances or performances and many other ritual activities.

To get into the temple during is ceremony days, temple costume strictly should be put on while for other days one should wear polite dress with temple sash (often available at every front of the temple) circled around waist. It all means to show respect ness to God as well as to local tradition which ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

Woman during menstruation period is not allowed to enter the temple, she can stand before the temple's entrance, since it is considered impurity, and no one allowed to climb up on any temple's wall or shrine or standing in front of praying people for taking amice view or picture.

The following list of pura ( Pura means temple ) does not embrace all temple in Bali, owing their abundance, hence almost no day without religious ceremony that could be possible seen in the country side of Bali.
